The Folkstones were formed in 1962 by Fra Kieran, Pat Johnstone, tone Gaskin and Pady McCabe. Between 1962 and 1965 there were two personnel changes in the group, Ann Carrol replaced Tone Gaskin and Pat Dunne replaced Paddy McCabe. 

Bernie Baldwin was born in Broughton Street, and his musical career began when he joined St. Patricks' Choir as a boy soprano.
